Sky Broadband is a British DSL Internet service that was launched in 2006. The Sky Broadband name is a merging of British Sky Broadcasting’s DSL and Easynet. For folks with a Sky Digital TV package they can get Sky Broadband for free so long as they live in an area that is covered by the Sky Broadband service and that they pay a small connection fee.

Sky Broadband is probably nefariously best known for all the problems users have with their service. Recently posted on a company message board you can find notices about bogus warranty letters or phone calls which show that the upper echeloned of the Sky Broadband network are not that difficult to penetrate and send out legitimate looking mail, email, or phone pranks.

While that may not even really be Sky’s fault there were plenty of postings related to company practices. For example, Sky Broadband was offered an award for the worst customer service, Bush level satisfaction from the users (32%) and a whopping three out of four were not pleased with Sky’s cancellation policy. Also posted were numerous complaints about slow speed, the ADSL line that had gone dead, and trouble with routers.

And these were on the company website. Like these were the ones that the company let you see!

Sky Broadband problems go well beyond customer login or slow connections signal. It would seem that the broadband connection needs to be better channeled through Sky’s cables and that their new infrastructure has a few kinks to work out before it will be fully functional and capable of competing with other networks.
