Orange Broadband is another British company offering both online and talk plans on their broadband network at different connection speeds and for varying prices. Apparently, however, Orange Broadband has heaped on it’s platter a litany of problems for its users up to and including network default.
The only thing that Orange has said of these most recent problems is the usual corporate hogwash that is of no real help to its stranded users and of no real explanation for its sorry state of affairs. A recent memo said (in part) “Orange can confirm that a broadband network outage occurred…The outage affected just under three percent of our broadband customer base, and we are currently working with our suppliers to rectify the fault.” This is an example of a not uncommon problem that raises an interesting point. This is apparently not the first such issue for Orange and that brings up a point about corporate competition: What do people do when there are not enough providers and the choices they have are between bad and worse? Orange broadband home network is cursed with problems all across the spectrum and its customers are not silent about it…Unless their broadband is down! They are livid on message boards and such but this is one of the problems of limited choice in affected areas; Orange has obviously cornered the market with its lackluster service and product; what ever is a poor customer to do? Orange broadband ebusiness strategy has been littered with complaints against the company from the get go. I don’t know Orange wireless personally as I don’t live in affected areas but I can only imagine this being one of the many problems with burgeoning business, little oversight and regulation, and no competition in a specialized market which everyone is sadly coming into contact with on a daily basis and which we’re all coming to need more and more. With Orange Broadband on a Mac it’s got to be more of the same. Problem companies are problem companies and unless it’s a Windows based issue, which there has been no proof that it is, then I’m led to believe that a different computer manufacturer would only lead to similar, disappointing results. It’s my hope that oversight, regulation, and advancing the product to be better will lead to greater outlook for the customer. But things like new technology take time to have the bugs worked out of them. It’s only with customer cooperation and corporate leadership that these tough challenges can be faced, head on. |
