Only having been around less than a year, Embarq was formerly the local telephone division of Sprint and Nextel. Embarq is the fourth largest local exchange carrier in the US and the largest independent provider. Embarq serves telephone customers in 18 states and provides local, long distance, as well as high speed internet services to residential and business customers.
Embarq's coverage begins with former customers of Carolina Telephone & Telegraph, United Telephone Company, and Central Telephone Company, in the states of Florida, Indiana, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington and Wyoming. Embarq DSL pricing is muddled. They say the same things as all the rest of the websites and they offer all these bundled packages that really appeal very little to the strident consumer who’s interested in the best DSL service. Embarq DSL seems more for middle of the road, average Joes, who are comfortable with interruptions and mediocre performance and are looking to save money. Which is fine. But just something to be cogent of. Embarq DSL offers a service called “Media Safe” which is a secure online storage facility for organization, storage, and sharing of files. Embarq DSL also offers Home Networking so you can link all the computers in you home or small office space. They offer network cards and adapters. One the Embarq home networking area you can share files, printers, in addition to your broadband connection. Embarq also offers professional grade firewall coverage for your uses. Embarq also has a service called Personal Media Link where you can digitally access your media. On Media Link feel free to download photos, listen to MP3, watch movies and TV, as well as get connected to their high speed network. Embarq DSL prices are, as stated earlier, comparable with their competitors; many of these competitive prices are bundled for even “greater savings.” On the average, Embarq DSL seems, well, average. Which is fine if that’s what you’re going for. Maybe just in this 21st century with all our progress and amazing leaps and bounds, I’m just expecting a DSL company to offer a little bit more. I want all the bells and whistles, I want the amazing performance numbers, I want to know that the service I’m investing my money in is a service I can be proud of. But I’m not everybody. And if you’re not interested in all that either; if you want a straight up value from your ISP; then feel free to Embark on Embarq. |
