DSL reports could be just about anything and probably would be in this opinion crazed society of ours. If everyone who had an opinion about DSL and they were balls enough to voice it, what do you imagine it might sound like?
While DSL reports may ring hollow in the ears of the learned, DSL reports are gleaned on enough to make a cogent thought out of them (or not) until the rest is discarded away. People splay their thought, opinions, feelings, rage, onto the web page called dslreports.com which is sort of a joke, I guess. Nothing I’ve heard thus far on the site has stuck with all that much mustard as far as I can tell. Information on the DSL speed test has been interesting to the point that I read it and dropped it; because anyone who sells that crap should at lease be able to work away form the commission’s sales. Then at least we’d maybe get some honest representation from the swindlers in suits who just want to see that bottom line. Unfortunately the only thing to really report back about DSL beyond service is speed. You get what you give for the service; if you’re nice you should do alright and if you’re a meanie mouse than you may get a slap on the wrist and a talk to the hand. The only other thing to report back about besides service is speed. I feel like I’m working for a performance car maker as speed is all they talk about. While performance cars are great, they really are not what DSL reports should be all about. Overall performance, reliability, accessibility, coverage area, and range are just a few of the many other things I could see worth talking about in DSL reports. While 100x dial up is an interesting precedent and certainly something to be proud of, I have no idea what this means! Especially if I buy your service for the speed and the performance on those other above mentioned areas tanks. In fact, maybe we have too much information about DSL service from providers. DSL speed tests are interesting but they tell me zero about the company, what they stand for, and what their level of performance is. That may be part of the problem; maybe if these companies spent less money on R&D and focus groups and more money on providing a consistently good service, DSL reports would be a thing of the past. |
